BSI India issued ISO 27001 Information Security Management certificate to Honda Motorcycle and Scooters India P Ltd. Honda Motorcycle and Scooters India P Ltd became the first automotive manufacturing Company to be certified to Information Security.
Honda Motorcycle and Scooters India P Ltd (HMSI) main site is the manufacturing plant at IMT Manesar manufacturing motorcycles and scooters for domestic sales in India and export. It has five regional sales offices (North, Central, East, West and South) providing sales and customer services from its main site (North & Central) and Kolkata, Pune and Bangalore. All sales are through dealers, and the service is provided by HMSI. It has another plant under construction at Tapuhera expected to go into production in 2011. Honda is currently producing nearly 1.55 million scooters and motorcycles together per annum.
HMSI is 100% subsidiary of Honda Motors, Japan.
The current strength is 2700+ with 4000+ on contract deployed at the plant. The staff at each of the regional offices is less than 50. A majority of the work force including on contract is production line staff (5700+) at the plant.
Under the stewardship of Aoyama Shinji, President, this achievement is result of his direct appreciation of the information security risks in an automated plant and has improved confidence of management in customer confidential data, integrity of the processes and uninterrupted availability of the automated processes to ensure improved profitability.
Scope of certification is as follows:
The management of information security of Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Private Limited will encompass the Operations comprising of Manufacturing, Quality Control, Finance & Accounts, General Affairs, Customer Service, Sales and Marketing, Purchase and Strategic Information System (SIS).
