LG ElectronicsEstablished in 1997, LG Electronics India Pvt Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of LG Electronics, South Korea and is India’s market leader in consumer durables and mobile communications.  It has state of the art manufacturing facilities across India including sites at Greater Noida near Delhi and Pune, Maharashtra where it manufactures televisions, LCD TVs, washing machines, air conditioners, microwave ovens, PC monitors, refrigerators and mobile phones.

Whilst its sites are designed with the latest technologies and international standards, as well as being amongst LG’s most eco-friendly units in the world, the company’s vision of “great company, great people” has led it to take an active role in the push to reduce GHG emissions and tackle the environmental damage already incurred.

The standard BS EN 16001 specifies the requirements for energy management which enabled LG to develop and implement an energy policy, identify significant areas of energy consumption and target energy reductions with energy efficient initiatives not only in manufacturing but also in their offices, research and transportation.

According to Mr Raju, the Assistant General Manager at their plant in Greater Noida: “The corporate target is for a 5.2% reduction in GHG emissions by 2020. The BS EN 16001 standard will assist us in a managed reduction of energy consumption which will directly help us meet our emission targets.”
