Course description
BSI’s “Business Continuity Management Systems Auditor/Lead Auditor Training Course” course provides delegates with the skills and knowledge to conduct and lead effective business continuity management system audits in accordance with the requirements of BS 25999-2:2007. This five-day course explains the principles and practices of independent auditing for a business continuity management system and guides delegates through the entire audit process, from managing an audit program to reporting on audit results. Delegates will gain the necessary auditing skills through a balance of formal classroom tutorials, practical role-playing, group workshops, and open forum discussions.

Course objectives
Upon completion of this course, delegates should be able to:
- Describe the purpose of a Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) including principles, processes and techniques used for management and assessment of a BCM system
- Explain the purpose, content and interrelationship of BS 25999-2:2007 Standard Part 2 and BS 25999-1:2006 Part 1 Code of Practice
- Explain the role of a BCMS Auditor to plan, conduct, report and follow up a BCMS audit in accordance with ISO 19011
- Interpret the requirement of BS 25999-2:2007 Part 2 in the context of application to an audit
- Plan, conduct, report and follow up a BCMS audit to the BS 25999-2:2007 Standard Part 2 in accordance with ISO 19011 Guidelines for Auditors and by interpreting BS 25999-2:2007 Standard Part 2
Prerequisite
It would be beneficial for participants to have awareness of business continuity and/or auditing principles around another management system standard before attending this course.
Further information
There is a 2-hour exam on Day 5. Detailed exam instructions are provided during the course. Certificates of achievement are provided for delegates who exceed 70% on both the continual evaluation and the exam. Certificates of attendance are provided to those who do not pass.

training requirements for those seeking registration as a lead auditor under this scheme.
