Lean Management

Course Description

It is a manufacturing philosophy based on Toyota Production Systems (TPS) to constantly strive to shorten the timeline between the customer order and shipment, by elimination of muda, the Japanese word for waste. In other words, producing more with less.

Who should attend?

All types of companies, manufacturing, process, distribution, software development or financial services can benefit from adopting lean philosophy. As long as a company can identify a value stream, from when customers order a product to when they receive it, lean principles can be applied and waste removed.

Benefits to your Business

This is a response to the ever-tightening situation where customers are becoming more and more demanding. They want superior quality, more customized variants, just-in-time delivery, shorter lead times, and the freedom to order quantities as small as they like. On the other hand, shareholders demand higher return on their investment, taking capital away from the business, all the way expecting more new products at even shorter intervals.

Industries across the globe are going back to the basics to become more efficient & competitive in the tough market. The rules of the game in manufacturing have been rewritten. The definition of good performance has changed:

  • From measuring percentages to PPM in scrap and rework.
  • From weeks to hours in order lead-time, and from days to minutes in delivery accuracy.
  • From monthly batches to every-product-every-day, and from shifts to minutes of changeover time.
  • From daily breakdowns to weeks between breakdown.
  • From non-stop “fire-fighting” to continuous improvement.

The only way to survive is to abandon the current manufacturing paradigms and think Lean. Constantly strive to provide more and more value to the customer and compete in all three aspects, quality, speed & price, simultaneously, while constantly trimming costs to offset profit-destroying price erosion.
